YANGON, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 4.4 kg of heroin in the country's eastern Shan state, according to a statement from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Monday.
Acting on a tipoff, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle near a tollgate in Nawnghkio township of northern Shan state on Saturday and confiscated the drugs along with four mobile phones, the statement said.
The seized drugs had a street value of 66 million kyats (about 31,428 U.S. dollars), the committee said.
Two suspects were arrested for the case and charged under the Southeast Asian country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations were underway, it added. ■
