AMMAN, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Sunday sent 105 trucks of food supplies to the Gaza Strip, the largest land convoy of aid by Jordan since the beginning of the conflict, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The aid convoy was sent in coordination between the Jordanian army and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, Petra said.

"The aid, which includes essential food supplies such as rice and flour, has been prepared and started to be sent to our brothers in the Gaza Strip to arrive before the blessed Eid al-Fitr," Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization Hussein Al Shibli said.

Al Shibli noted that Jordan aims to double the aid sent through the Kerem Shalom crossing and to reach the largest possible number of people in Gaza.

"This step comes in response to the urgent need to support the people in Gaza who are facing difficult humanitarian conditions," he said, noting that Jordan is keen to play a leading role in facilitating the delivery of aid through coordination with international entities and humanitarian organizations.

Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the strip, the Jordanian army has sent 460 trucks and 72 Jordanian air drops, and 153 joint air drops for food and humanitarian aid, targeting various locations in the Gaza Strip in cooperation with several countries, in addition to 48 relief aircraft sent through El Arish International Airport in Egypt.
